Moose Jaw's Shawn Loney wasn’t able to make a move during the second round on Wednesday at the 2017 Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.

Loney missed the cut as he finished the tournament at 19-over following back-to-back rounds in the 80s.

After posting a 10-over 81 in the opening round on Tuesday, the Moose Jaw Men’s City Champion was one shot better in the second round, birding two holes on his way to an 80.

Loney was strong on the front-nine in both rounds, shooting a three-over 39 on Wednesday. He was even par heading to the seventh hole, but a triple bogey derailed his round.

On the back-nine, Loney would bogey the first three holes and then bogey 15 and 16 before posting a double bogey on 17. He finished strong with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.

Coquitlam, B.C.'s Steven Diack is leading the tournament heading into round three after shooting a five-under 66 on Wednesday. He has a one-shot lead on Daniel Brown, who’s also from B.C.

The third round goes on Thursday at the Wascana Country Club in Regina and the tournament wraps up on Friday.
