Moose Jaw's Marie Wright looks to lead Team Saskatchewan to a second straight Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship over the next week in Boucherville, Que.

Wright will skip Saskatchewan #1 at the national championship, which also includes fellow Moose Javian Moose Gibson at lead, Darwin Bender playing second and Gilbert Dash at third.

Dash won the national championship three years ago with Wright as his third and they switched places to much success at last year's championship where they put together a dominating run with an 11-0 record.

"That helps a lot, not only for the fact that we've had that experience and we've been there before but because we all discuss it, we all sit down and talk about it, we're all on the same page so that really helps a lot with the communication and the team dynamic," said Wright.

Communication is going to be key for Saskatchewan to open the championship as they've been off the ice for a few weeks with curling season over in the province.

"We got ice in Regina until the 10th and then we've just been doing mental preparation, going to the gym, doing some visualization, that's about all you can do now when there's no ice," said Wright.

"We just need to keep our communication strong with our team and just go out, relaxed and have fun, and just focus on our game."

At this year's national championship, the teams will be grouped into two pools for the round robin with the top three teams in each pool advancing into the playoffs. The two pool winners will receive byes into the semifinals.

"Every game is going to be very important," said Wright.

Saskatchewan 1 will open the round robin on Friday against Newfoundland and Labrador at 8 a.m. Moose Jaw's Donna Ackerman is also skipping Saskatchewan 2, they open their time at nationals against Manitoba 1 at 1 p.m. on Friday. Click here for the full draw and results.
