The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors opened Hockey Regina's league playoffs with a 7-4 win over the Regina Falcons in the Queen City on Monday.

Cole King led the Warriors with a hat trick and four points in the win.

The first-place Warriors started slow, falling behind 1-0 after one to the Falcons, but Donovan Harkness, Benjamin Kiefer and King scored three straight goals to open the second period and give Moose Jaw the lead.

The Falcons struck back with a goal from Erik Blundell with 3:31 left in the second to make it a one-goal game heading into the third.

Blundell scored a shorthanded goal 3:32 into the third to tie the game and then on the same penalty kill and only 29 seconds later, Colby Lindsay scored again to put the Falcons in front, 4-3.

Moose Jaw didn't panic and Cohen Friesen scored 1:45 later to tie the game back up.

King put the Warriors in front 1:18 later and then he gave Moose Jaw some insurance, scoring his hat trick goal on the power play with 1:17 left in regulation.

Noah Thul added to the Warriors lead with nine seconds left to play.

The Warriors are off now until Saturday when they will face the Regina Blues in the next round of the double-elimination playoffs.
