The regular season came to a close in the junior varsity boys and junior boys divisions as five games hit the court across the Moose Jaw High School Junior Basketball League.

The Central Red Cyclones completed a perfect regular season with 74-66 win over the Vanier Red Vikings, finishing the year with a blemish-free 8-0 mark. The Red Vikings are the top team in the junior boys division with a 7-1 record.

In Central Butte, the Peacock Orange Toilers beat the host Bulldogs, 81-50, to finish the regular season in third place with a 3-5 record. The Bulldogs went 2-6 and finished in fourth place.

Peacock’s Reece Helland had 34 points in the win, while Central Butte was led by Carl Martel with 19 points.

The Riverview/Cornerstone Royals finished the regular season in second place in the junior varsity boys division with a 4-4 record after picking up a 91-45 win over the Vanier White Vikings, who finish the regular season at 0-8.

Riley Marshall had 34 points to lead the way for the Royals, while Reymond Tallud chipped in with 28 points in the win. Sam Moyse had 26 points in the loss for Vanier.

The junior varsity boys semifinals are on Wednesday with the first place Red Cyclones hosting Central Butte and Riverview/Cornerstone welcoming in the Orange Toilers.

There’s also a junior boys quarterfinal match-up with the White Vikings hosting Assiniboia.

The junior varsity girls regular season came to a close on Monday as well with the Central Butte Bulldogs heading into Riverview and beating the Royals, 46-27. The win keeps Central Butte in second place with a 3-4 record, while Riverview falls to 1-7. 

Those two teams will meet against in the junior varsity girls semifinal on Wednesday at Riverview. The winner will then meet the 7-0 Cornerstone Falcons in the final on Mar. 7.

In the pair of girls games on Monday, the Central Cyclones beat the Assiniboia Rockets, 78-27, to improve to 4-4 on the year, while Assiniboia drops to 0-7.

Both teams will be back on the court on Wednesday to close out the junior girls regular season as Central heads over to Vanier, while Assiniboia hosts Peacock.
