Over the weekend, the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Sportsplex hosted the Winter Invitational.

The three day weekend event had just over 100 swimmers from across Saskatchewan, which was a little disappointing according to Gord Shields, Kinsmen Flying Fin's new head coach.

"It was a great weekend, we had just over 100 swimmers that number was a little disappointing, we were expecting to have 200 or more, unfortunately, there's a lot of other events going on this weekend out of places, bit of competition that way, but the ones that were here had a good time and swam really well, had lots of personal bests, and that's what we are looking for at the end of our first cycle."

Clubs from all over Saskatchewan came out to compete, they didn't have any out-of-province clubs this year, but all cities from Saskatchewan were represented.

There were a few outstanding swims that took place, one being Kate Waldenberger, taking off 26 seconds off her 800 m free swim. Others from Flying Fins swam really well according to Gord Shields and had some personal best times which is what their goal is at the end of the cycle at an event like this.

All in all, Gord Shields was happy with his swimmers and how the weekend took place.
