The Moose Jaw Little League Major AAA team had a sizzling weekend and are now one win from a trip to nationals.

The All-stars knocked off the Kiwanis International Little League team 20-0 Saturday and followed that with a 20-10 win over the North Regina Little League Sunday.

Those wins give the team a day off before getting to face the winner of those two teams in the semifinal, taking place to start the week at Gamble Field.

All-stars head coach Tony Dreger said the team isn't looking too far ahead to the chance to go to nationals.

“We always think that that’s a curse, when you look ahead,” said Dreger. “It’s just one game at a time. And so we’re just focused on working our butts off and staying positive, and just focus on Tuesday’s game and go from there.”

Lots of things have been going well for the team, according to Dreger.

“Hitting the ball was going good, our pitching was good, we threw a lot more strikes in the last two days,” he said. “We tried to do our best... even on Sunday, when they did hit the ball, we tried to eliminate giving them extra bases.”

The Tuesday night game was postponed for Moose Jaw. The match up has been scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday.
