Moose Jaw's Jasmine Kohl is enjoying her first season with the Prince Albert Bears of the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League.

She scored a pair of goals in her most recent game before the province stopped competitions. It’s been a good start to the season for Kohl.

“My season’s been going pretty well and the training has definitely been helping,” she said. “I think so far in this league, I have been doing pretty well for being a first-year... But I’m just hoping we can continue on so I can progress and get even better.”

Kohl talked about what the plans are with the Bears for the next while.

“It’s more skills development, and then after Christmas I think we’re looking at doing the same thing until January and hoping the season can start up again,” she said.

Kohl led the U15 AA Southeast Gold Wings in scoring last season with seven goals and five assists. This year, in four games she has a pair of goals, tied for third on the team.

But U18 AAA is a whole new world. She said that the biggest challenges are the faster pace of game and finding new leaders to look up to and understand their training.

Kohl’s parents have been able to come up and watch her play her games this year, which she said has helped with the transition.

“I do love being with my parents, and it helps that almost every night, I can FaceTime them too, so that helped me a lot,” Kohl said.
