Moose Jaw's Brooklyn Nimegeers squared off with players from around the world last week.

The 13-year-old hockey players suited up with Draft Day North America at the 2019 World Select International Under-14 Girls Championship in France.

"It was honestly so fun," said Nimegeers. "Even though we didn't come out with the win, it was so fun meeting all the girls and getting to know them."

In five games at the tournament, Nimegeers registered two goals and three points.

Draft Day lost out with a 3-0 loss to the East Coast Selects on Saturday to finish at 3-2 overall during the tournament.

"I think I fit in pretty good, it was tough, but it was really fun," said Nimegeers after returning back to Moose Jaw from the tournament in Mont Blanc, France.

"It was a big change going against girls from all over the world because they're quite a bit better and it was a big change."

The team that Nimegeers was playing for was made up of players from across Canada and the United States. She said that she really enjoyed getting to know them and spending time in Europe over the week.

"We went up into the mountains and did some tours there and just went around town," said Nimegeers. "It was one of the most fun trips that I’ve been on."

The local hockey player's season isn’t over just yet as she's been invited to play for Draft Day North America against at the North American Prospect Showcase in Rochester, New York from June 21-23.
