Parks & Recreation Director Jody Hauta (centre) is on board with the city providing adminstrative support to the local Hall Of Fame committee

They hope to have their first inductees late next year.  Between now and then there is a lot of work to do for the group putting together the first ever Moose Jaw & District Sports Hall Of Fame, but they will have some support from Moose Jaw City Hall.

The committee has asked that they be declared a municipal project which would allow city hall to administer all of their donations and funding.  Council agreed to a three year term this week.

"We administer their funding their funding and receipts, and those sorts of things," explained Parks and Recreation Director Jody Hauta. "The donations they receive they'll be using for the construction or development of their Wall Of Fame, and they'll be using it for costs involved in their annual induction ceremonies."

Hauta says the group is getting closer to unveiling their plans. "The committee is in the process of securing funding for the operation of the Hall (and) they'll be holding a media event to announce the Hall in the near future, and they'd like to begin the nomination process targeting a date late in 2015 to hold the Hall's first induction."
