Three Moose Jaw teams walked away champions over the weekend in Gravelbourg at the South Central District Curling Championship.

Peacock won the mixed title, Vanier won in the girls’ division and Central took home gold in the boys’ division.

The Toilers pulled off a 12-4 win over Assiniboia in the 'A' final on Saturday to come away with gold in the mixed division. The game was tight early with Peacock holding a slim 5-4 lead, but they ran away in the final four ends.

In the girls’ division, Vanier came away with a 9-7 win over Assiniboia in the 'A' final to capture gold. Vanier had won their opening game on Friday, beating Avonlea 8-1 in four ends.

The Central boys put together two strong games to capture gold, they beat Rouleau 7-5 in the semi-final and then came away with an 8-2 win over Avonlea in the 'A' final.

All three teams will now head to regionals on March 1-2 in Regina.

The South Central District Bantam Curling Championship was also hosted in Lafleche on Friday and Saturday.

Lafleche Central School beat Eyebrow 8-6 and 6-3 to sweep the best-of-three boys final.

Assiniboia Composite High School knocked off Assiniboia Elementary School, 7-5, in the final to win the girls’ title.

Avonlea went undefeated at 3-0, beating Mankota 7-4 in the final on their way to the gold medal in the mixed division.
