Moose Jaw's Candace Newkirk and her Saskatchewan rink rolled to two wins on Wednesday at the 2015 Travelers Curling Club Championship in Ottawa.

Saskatchewan won 5-3 over Prince Edward Island and 7-6 over Newfoundland and Labrador to improve to 3-1 at the national championship.

In their first game of the day, the Newkirk rink fell behind 3-1 after five ends following a steal of one by PEI in the fifth.

Saskatchewan was able to get momentum on their side with a single in the sixth and then they scored a steal of two in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead.

Another steal of one in the eighth sealed the win for the local rink.

It was a back-and-forth game against Newfoundland in the second game of the day. Newfoundland opened the scoring with a single in the first, but Saskatchewan answered back with one in the second and then a steal of four in the third to go up 5-1.

Newfoundland scored three in the fourth and stole one in the fifth to tie the game up at five a side. However the teams traded singles over the next three ends with Saskatchewan coming away with the win.

Saskatchewan will now face 2-2 Nova Scotia and 1-3 Quebec on Thursday to finish off the round robin.
