Heading into the first games of the season, the Western Hockey League announced that there were no positive COVID-19 tests among the Alberta-based teams.

There were 177 tests administered through private PCR testing for the five WHL teams.

Alberta's WHL teams are beginning a 24-game regular season Friday night. Since Feb. 6, there have been 481 tests overall with no positive results.

While the WHL said there will be regular updates on COVID-19 test results, they will not be releasing the names of any individuals who test positive.
