The Moose Jaw Mustangs ended the season on a good note over the weekend at the Sask Lacrosse Novice Provincial Festival in Saskatoon.

The local squad posted a 3-1 record during their four games over the two days, including knocking off the team that beat them for the Queen City Box Lacrosse League title.

The Mustangs opened the weekend by getting two goals from Liam Fitzpatrick in a 7-3 win over the Saskatoon Roughnecks. Brennan Watterson, Josh Johnson, Kaleb Mercer, Rowan Calvert and Braxton MacAngus scored the other goals for Moose Jaw in the win.

They followed that game up with another easy defeat of a Saskatoon team, rolling over the Rock 8-3. Fitzpatrick and Calvert each had two goals in the win, while Ethan Johnson, Josh Johnson, Rhett Chute and MacAngus added the other markers.

Moose Jaw was given a tougher test in their next game, a 5-2 loss to Lloydminister. Fitzpatrick continued his outstanding weekend, scoring the Mustangs' two lone goals in the loss.

After dropping their first game, the Mustangs finished the year strong in their final game and got a bit of revenge at the same time. They rolled to an 8-4 win over the Regina Swarm, the team that knocked them off in their league final.

Fitzpatrick again scored a pair of goals in the win – finishing with eight in four games. He was helped by Ethan Johnson, who potted three, while MacAngus added two goals and three points. Calvert had the other marker in the win.

The strong weekend caps off a successful season for the Mustangs that saw them go 7-3-2 during the regular season. They rolled off two straight wins earlier last week to get into the final before falling to the Swarm in the league final on Thursday night.
