The Moose Jaw Novice Mustangs 1 put together a great weekend on the court in Lethbridge.

The Mustangs are bringing home a silver medal after falling 3-1 to the Lethbridge Cudas in the final on Sunday at the Lethbridge Floorbusters Memorial Tournament.

Moose Jaw was 3-0 heading into the gold medal game.

They opened the tournament with an 8-7 overtime win over the Brooks Drillers on Friday. Caiden Arnott had the winner in the extra period for the Mustangs as he finished with four goals and Luke Turner added a hat trick and four points for Moose Jaw.

On Saturday, the Mustangs started the day by knocking off the Cranbrook Outlaws 5-2. Turner had another hat trick in the win, while Chase Folk and Tate Bollinger also scored for Moose Jaw.

The Mustangs finished the round robin with an 8-5 win over the Lethbridge Cudas 2 on Saturday. Turner finished with four goals and five points in the win, while Folk, Arnott, Jackson Both and Landin Wrubleski added the other goals.

In the final, Lethbridge scored once each period to take the win, while Arnott scored the lone goal for the Mustangs in the final.

The Mustangs 1 are back to league play on Sunday when they host the Swift Current Rampage MW at the Kinsmen Arena.

Novice Mustangs 2 Post 1-1-1 Weekend

The Novice Mustangs 2 played three games in the South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League over the weekend.

Moose Jaw opened the weekend with an 8-5 win over the Estevan Voltz on Saturday afternoon. Kashton Smith had a hat trick to lead the way for the Mustangs, while Aiden McGillvray scored twice and Hayden Nidesh added a goal and two points.

The Mustangs played a doubleheader on Sunday, losing 7-3 to the Swift Current Rampage MW and then battling the Rampage TT to a 5-5 tie.

In the first game, Smith had a goal and two points, while McGillvray and Evan Berg also scored for Moose Jaw.

Smith had two goals and three points in the second game, while McGillvray also scored twice and Nidesh added a goal and two points.

The Mustangs 2 are now 3-2-1 this season. They're off until next Monday when they travel to Weyburn to take on the Thrashers.

Elite in Action in Regina

The South Sask Elite's bantam and peewee squads both saw action on Sunday in the Saskatchewan 'A' Lacrosse League.

The Peewee South Sask Elite dropped a 3-2 game to the Regina Barracuda in their first game of the season, while the Bantam team improved to 2-0-1 with a 9-7 win over the Barracuda.

Shane Cornelson scored both goals in the loss for the peewee squad. They will take on the Barracuda in Estevan next Friday.

Nathan Wagstaff led the Bantam Elite with three goals and six points, while Rowan Calvert added a hat trick and four points. Lukas Salikin chipped in with three assists in the win. Logan Hawley, Liam Fitzpatrick and Josh Johnson also scored.

They're back in action against the Barracuda next Friday at the Kinsmen Arena. They face-off at 7:30 p.m.

Chiefs Go Winless on Weekend

The Moose Jaw Chiefs had a busy weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday in the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League's Senior Division.

The Chiefs went toe-to-toe with the Saskatoon Steelers on Saturday in a 10-10 tie at the Kinsmen Arena and then on Sunday, the Chiefs dropped an 11-10 game to the Prince Albert Outlaws.

The winless weekend puts the Chiefs' record at 3-2-1 this season.

On Saturday, Frank Davalos had three goals and five points to lead the Chiefs, while Mason Viczko picked up a hat trick as well. Cole Morash and Nathan McKenna added a goal and two points each.

In Sunday's loss, Davalos paced the Chiefs' offence again with three goals and six points, while Morash, Viczko and Jay Fellinger had a goal and three points each. Kyle Dalgarno chipped in with three assists and Grayson Stevenson had a pair of goals.

The Chiefs are back in action this weekend for two games in Saskatoon. They face the Brewers on Saturday and then the SWAT on Sunday.

Peewee Mustangs Split with Rampage

Both of Moose Jaw's peewee teams hosted the Swift Current Rampage on Saturday in the South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League.

The Peewee Mustangs 1 opened the doubleheader with a 7-6 win, while the Rampage struck back with a 5-3 win over the Mustangs 2.

Brodyn Pladson had four goals and five points in the win for the Mustangs 1, Ryder Gilroy added two goals, and Nash Williams and Carter Hudyma had three assists each.

For the Mustangs 2, Bennet Burns scored twice and Nate Lewko added a goal and two points in the loss.

The Mustangs 1 are now 3-2-1 this season, while the Mustangs 2 sit at 1-3-1.
