Warriors prospects Jayden Halbgewachs and Ryan Gardiner were apart of a big upset for Team West on Wednesday at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Team West was able to pick up a 3-2 shootout win over Sweden, who are the defending gold medalist.  It was the first win of the tournament for Team West as they now sit at 0-2-1-0 with one game left to go.

Jackson Keane, son of Warriors hall of famer Mike Keane, and Troy Murray from White City scored for Team West in the shootout.  Goalie Logan Flodell from Regina made 38 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping before Swedish attempts in the shootout.

Team West actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Sweden with a goal from Connor Hobbs late in the first period and another from Keegan Kolesar early in the second.  Sweden tied game before the middle frame was out however, with goals from John Dahlstrom and Filip Ahl.

Halbgewachs and Gardiner were both pointless in the game.  Gardiner did register on the score sheet with a second period tripping penalty.
