Dec. 2, 2004, Justin Rayner was playing bantam hockey when he fell head first into the boards, breaking his neck and leaving him paralyzed.
Rayner, now a scout with the Moose Jaw Warriors, has never been on the ice since.
On Tuesday, Rayner posted a Twitter a video from last winter. It shows him skating around a rink with the help of a lift. It was the first time Rayner has been on skates since his accident.
He also noted in the post that the skates were the same ones he was wearing the night of his accident.

I broke my neck playing hockey December 2nd, 2004 at 8:36 pm. I hadn’t been back on the ice for 16 years. This was a really emotional and healing day for me last winter!
