The Peacock Green Toilers claimed gold over the weekend, as they captured the girls' division of the 2019 Moose Jaw Junior Basketball Invitational.

Peacock picked up a 61-56 win over the Swift Current Ardens in the 'A' side final on Saturday.

Ella Muchowski led the Green Toilers with 15 points in the championship win, while Aria Swanson and Sydney Measner chipped in with 10 points each for Peacock.

The Green Toilers jumped out to a big first quarter lead thanks to six points Raina Weiers, which gave them a 21-13 lead. Swift Current battled back in the second quarter to make it a 32-30 game going into halftime.

The Ardens actually moved in front 49-47 after three, but Peacock found another gear in the fourth, scoring 14 points to secure the win and the title.

Vanier came away with bronze, edging Central, 66-37, in the third-place game.

On the boys’ side, Swift Current ended up with gold, topping Yorkton 52-50 in the final, while Central Gold picked up bronze with an 88-44 win over Weyburn.

Peacock also won the 'B' side title beating Vanier 68-58 in the final.

There are four junior basketball games coming up on Monday night.

Three of them are in the boys' division, Cornerstone/Riverview taels to Central Butte at 5:50 p.m., Peacock green hosts Vanier at 6:20 p.m. and Central Gold battles Central Red at 8 p.m.

The Peacock Orange Toilers head over to Central to face the Cyclones in girls action at 6:20 p.m.
