The Peewee Mustangs after their bronze medal win on Thursday night in Regina.

Atley Calvert scored once and added an assist for the Peewee Mustangs on Thursday night as they captured the bronze medal in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League playoffs.

The Mustangs knocked off the Regina Venom 5-3 in the third place game at the Al Ritchie Arena.

Caelan Fitzpatrick opened the scoring for Moose Jaw early in the first period and the score would remain that way until the second period.

Early in the middle frame, Regina tied the game at 1-1, but Moose Jaw responded quickly and retook the lead just four minutes later.

Goals from Jayden Nash Wilson, Calvert and Colton Aikens in the third period put Moose Jaw in front for good despite a pair of goals from the Venom in the frame.

The Mustangs are now off until heading back to Regina next weekend for provincials.

Other Thursday action... The Midget Mustangs lost 10-4 to the Regina Mounties in their bronze medal game on Thursday night. The Mounties pulled away with six third period goals. Brayden Johnson had a hat trick for Moose Jaw, while Quinn Ingalls – playing up a level – added other. The Midget Mustangs will also be in Regina for provincials next weekend.
