Brayden Point is ranked 53rd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting going into the game.

It took a little longer than the other players, but Brayden Point got the call on Sunday inviting him to take part in the BMO CHL Top Prospects Game.

The 17-year-old centre was added to the game as an injury replacement for top ranked prospect Sam Bennett of the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs.

“It's a great opportunity and it's an honour be able to go there and play with guys at such a good level,” said Point.

The Top Prospects Game features 40 of the top players expected to go in June's NHL Draft.  Point was originally left off the roster, but will get the chance to suit up for Team Orr after all.

He said he's going in just looking to soak up everything the experience has to offer.

“You can't be too nervous, you've just got to play your game and just try to have fun with it,” said Point, who is currently leading the Moose Jaw Warriors in scoring during his second full WHL season.  He has 19 goals and 42 points in 44 games this year and has really caught fire over the last month and a half, scoring ten goals and 20 points in the last 13 games.

Going against, and having success against, the top players in his age group is nothing new for Point.  This past summer, he was named game MVP during the championship game at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, helping Canada to a gold medal.  That's an experience that he's going to draw on going into the Top Prospects Game on Wednesday.

“I've kind of got a feel of what it's like going against the top players and I'll just stick to my game and be able to compete pretty well against them,” said Point.

The game will be played at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, which also happens to be Point's hometown.  That's an added bonus that he said is going to push him even harder to be at his best.

“You always want to good in front of your family and friends, but I don't think that brings any added pressure, you try to have fun with it,” stated Point.

The 17-year-old forward is the first Moose Jaw Warrior to play in the game since Quinton Howden and Dylan McIlrath in 2010, both players ended up going in the first round.

“It's one game, so obviously I don't think it's going to be the end all be all for the draft,” said Point.  “Just having fun and enjoying the experience will be the main thing for me.”

The CHL Top Prospects Game goes on Wednesday night at 8:00pm.  You can tune in live on Sportsnet West for all the action.
