The senior B Moose Jaw Chiefs and the junior B Moose Jaw Mustangs will be on the sidelines this year as the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League unanimously voted to cancel the 2020 regular season and playoffs.

In a statement on social media, the league said that contributing factors included waiting for indoor facilities to open up, training preparation for each team, and provincial restrictions on travel.

With lacrosse being a physical sport, the PGLL also said that “there is no indication what box lacrosse looks like.”

The league had delayed the start of their season recently but couldn't realistically wait any longer before pulling the plug.

Each member association can still have the right to play amongst themselves, and the PGLL is encouraging that.

“If there is a possibility of lacrosse occurrence during the out of season months, the PGLL would endorse any (Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association) sanctioned events,” the release said.

This would have been the Mustangs' first season back in the junior B league, while the Chiefs had a 5-4-1 regular-season record last year.
