Curl Sask has cancelled this year's men's and women's provincial curling championships.

The Viterra Scotties and SasTtel Tankard events were scheduled to take place Jan. 29-Feb. 7 2021 in Estevan.

“Under current public health orders this championship was no longer feasible nor financially responsible to attempt to host,” said Ashley Howard CURLSASK Executive Director in a media release on their website.

Curl Sask said Estevan will get first right of refusal for the 2022 curling season's two big events.

It's the intention of the Curling Canada organization that the national Tim Hortons Brier and Scotties Tournament of Hearts would be held in a bubble format in Calgary. Curl Sask said that they have scenarios to declare Saskatchewan's representatives at those events that are focused on preserving elements of open entry and competition, and that Estevan and Affinity Place will not be serving as the host community for the provincial championships.

Curl Sask will work with members, clubs and the board of directors to once again plan the return to ice this year, and said further details would be available as soon as possible.
