Assiniboia Southern RebelsThe comeback came up short for the Assiniboia Southern Rebels on Sunday afternoon in the Queen City.

Trailing 3-0, the Rebels battled back to tie the game against the Regina Capitals, but ended up falling 4-3 in overtime in Prairie Junior Hockey League action.

The Rebels gave up a pair of goals to Regina's Cole Hoffart in the opener period.  Regina would add to that lead midway through the second with Scott Morrison making it 3-0.

Assiniboia started to find some traction just a few minutes later though as Kolten Cleasby got them on the board at the 9:58 mark of the second.  Mac Morris pulled the Rebels within one just over a 1:30 later and the game would go into the third period with Regina up 3-2.

The Rebels wasted no time tying up the game in the final frame as Tucker Neuberger scored his 30th goal of the season just five seconds into the period to make it a 3-3 game.

The two teams battled for the remaining of regulation to no avail.  It was the same story for the majority of the extra frame, but Eric Duran was able to win it for Regina with just 41 seconds remaining.

Nate Ferris made 33 saves in the loss, while Kevin Orthner had to make 25 saves in the win for the Capitals.

The Rebels finished with a 1-1-1 during the weekend three-game road trip, they opened the trip with a 7-1 loss to the Saskatoon Royals on Friday, but bounced back with a 6-3 win in Prince Albert on Saturday.  Assiniboia now sits one point back of the Prairie Storm for first in the South Division.  They're back in action on Saturday in Maple Creek against the Cypress Cyclones.
