The Assiniboia Southern Rebels found their way back into the win column on Wednesday night.

The Rebels skated to a 5-2 win over the Regina Silver Foxes at the Assiniboia Civic Centre in Wednesday's Prairie Junior Hockey League action.

Colton Adams and Derek Thomas gave the Rebels an early 2-0 lead, scoring in the first half of the opening frame.

Taylor Cowie made it 3-0 just under five minutes in the second period before Regina got on the board with a shorthanded marker from Braden Bentz just past the midway point of the frame.

The momentum from that goal didn't last long for the Silver Foxes as Dakota Helland made it 4-1 for the Rebels just 1:48 later. Alex Flicek put Assiniboia in front 5-1 with 3:15 to go in the second.

Nolan Berner turned away 25 shots to pick up the win in goal for the Rebels.

Assiniboia now sits at 7-2-0-0 on the year. They return to action on Friday when they host the Pilot Butte Storm.
