The offence was definitely working for the Assiniboia Southern Rebels on Friday in Prince Albert as they walked all over the Ice Hawks, 11-2, to open their two-game northern road trip.

Logan Skinner led the offensive charge for the Rebels as he scored four times and added an assist for a five-point game.  Lane Cayer chipped in with three assists and multiple players finished with two point games in the dominant win.

Skinner scored twice before the midway point of the first period to put the Rebels up 2-0.  Both goals came on the power play, but they wouldn’t be the last ones with the man advantage for Assiniboia.

Prince Albert cut the lead to 2-1 with 9:39 to go in the first on a goal by Brett Boyer, but Carson Cayer restored the two goal lead for Assiniboia just over two minutes later with another power play goal.

Cayer scored again just 39 seconds into the second period to make it 4-1 for the Rebels.  Another power play goal, this one from Josh Schwindt, just before the midway point of the game made it 5-1.  Brayden Leslie scored to make it 6-1 before the period was over.

Five straight goals from the Rebels to start the third period really blew the game wide open as Skinner scored a pair and Travis Marit, Kyle Yaremchuk, and Zach Flemming all got in on the action as well.

The Rebels ended up going 6-for-15 on the power play in the game as they made Prince Albert pay for their undisciplined play.  The Ice Hawks were just 1-for-8 on their power play opportunities.

Gatlin Schwartz made 33 saves in the win for the Rebels, while they threw 49 shots on Prince Albert goalie Tyler Gordon.

Assiniboia wraps up their first half on Saturday when they take on the Tri-Town Thunder.
