The Moose Jaw Regals were strong out of the gate and then finished with a bang on Monday night as they topped the Regina Rattlers, 9-5, at Ross Wells Park.

Moose Jaw scored three runs in the first inning and then held off a late charge from the Rattlers with a four-run sixth inning, featuring a solo home run by Matt Evans.

“It was a good win,” said catcher Jordan Logan.  “They got back into the game, but we were able to get back on our offence and close the door.”

Logan hit lead-off for the Regals in the win, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

He also threw out four Rattlers’ base stealers.  Logan credited his pitchers on that front, “Quick delivers to the plate helps me a lot, I can get the ball off and nail the guys at second or third.”

Kaleb Wilson picked up the win on the mound for the Regals, going three shutout innings, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

Kyle Wilson and Chris Cooper combined to finish the final four innings for the Regals.  Wilson gave up four runs on five hits, while Cooper held the Rattlers to just one run on five hits.

At the plate, Kaleb and Kyle Wilson both helped their own cause with an RBI each.  Austin Howe was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

With the strong start to the game, the Regals’ players were into the action throughout the game, being very vocal from the bench and on the field.  Logan said that they have good chemistry and it transfer over into how they play.

“It’s a good group of guys, I like our team, so we should do well if we keep rolling like this,” he said.

The Regals will return to the field next Tuesday to host Weyburn for a doubleheader at Ross Wells.
