The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed another highly touted former NFL running back.

24-year-old Tre Mason signed with the Riders on Wednesday as he looks to restart his football career.

When asked what he saw in Mason to bring him in to the fold, Riders head coach and general manager Chris Jones responded, "You watched his film?"

The former star with the Auburn Tigers in college was a third round pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft. He rushed for 765 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie in 2014.

Mason’s NFL career was cut short after some legal troubles, which included him leading police on a high speed chase on an ATV. He was released by the Rams in March of 2017.

Mason joins a running back group that also includes former Ram Zac Stacy, who played with Mason in 2014. Veteran Jerome Messam is the expected starter with Marcus Thigpen, who will serve a two-game suspension to start the season, also in the mix.

The Riders are continuing training camp this week in Saskatoon. They will be hosting their annual Green and White Day on Saturday at SMF Field and then on Sunday, they will be hosting a practice in Humboldt.
