The Saskatchewan Roughriders are preparing to open training camp this weekend in Saskatoon and they’ve added another quarterback to the mix for camp, signing international pivot Maty Mauk on Thursday.

The 23-year-old spent the 2016 season at Eastern Kentucky, completing 21-of-39 passes for 303 years and one touchdown in two games, but missed the rest of the season due to an injury.

The six-foot, 200-pound Mauk played three seasons with the University of Missouri prior to joining EKU. He compiled a 17-5 record as a starter with the Tigers, completing 52-percent of his passes for 4,373 yards and 42 touchdowns, while adding 737 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Mauk was selected to the 2013 SEC All-Freshman team.

The Ohio native does come with some off-field issues as he was dismissed from Missouri after a video of him reportedly doing drugs suffered in 2016, which led to him transferring to Eastern Kentucky. He was also charged with four traffic-related offenses in 2013.

The Riders also released international defensive back Eric Allen on Thursday.

Riders Reportedly Sign Draft Pick

3-Down Nation reported on Thursday that the Riders have agreed to terms with 2017 second round pick Dariusz Bladek.

Bladek was selected 11th overall by the Riders in the 2017 CFL Draft.

Saskatchewan still hasn’t confirmed the signing.
