Willie Jefferson and Brett Lauther are the big winners as the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced their team awards on Wednesday.

Jefferson is up for Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player awards, while Lauther is the nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

Brendon LaBatte has his seventh career Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman nomination and Jordan Williams-Lambert will be up for the Most Outstanding Rookie award.

Jefferson put together an incredible season leading the Riders’ defence. He posted a career-high 10 sacks and he returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

The 27-year-old finished with 34 defensive tackles, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Lauther connected on 90-percent (54-of-60) of his field goals during the season with a long of 56 yards. He also made 33-of-36 convert attempts and had 65 kickoffs for 4,155 yards during the 2018 season.

LaBatte continues to be the anchor on the Riders’ offensive line as he started all 18 games during 2018. He played left guard for the first 15 before moving to centre for the last three games.

Williams-Lambert recorded a team-leading 62 catches during his first season in the CFL. He finished with 764 yards and four touchdowns.

The Riders are on a bye week for Week 21 in the CFL after finishing their regular season schedule last week with a win against the BC Lions at Mosaic Stadium.
