A familiar face is rejoining the Saskatchewan Roughriders after a season in the National Football League.

Defensive back Elie Bouka has signed with the team after spending last season on injured reserve with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After originally being drafted by the Riders in the 2016 CFL Draft, Bouka signed with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, but was injured during the preseason and sat out until 2017.

Bouka joined the Riders for four games at the end of the 2017 season, registering three special teams tackles.

The 27-year-old played his college ball with the University of Calgary Dinos, moving to defensive back from receiver in his second season. He finished 24.5 defensive tackles and one interception at defensive back to go along with 16 catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver.

The Riders are scheduled to open training camp on May 19 in Saskatoon.
