Riders' Eddie Russ (seated left) and Kory Sheets sign autographs for fans at Co-op on Tuesday.

There was plenty of Green & White at the Co-op Marketplace on Tuesday as Rider Nation in Moose Jaw was given a treat with Saskatchewan Roughriders' Kory Sheets and Eddie Russ making an appearance for an autograph session.  Fans, young and old, filled in for a good hour straight to meet and greet with the two CFL players.

"The people come out and support us week in and week out, so it's just fun to give back and do this," said Sheets during a break in the line-up.

Despite coming off a 28-17 loss to the Montreal Alouettes on the weekend, the fans were still excited to see the players.  Russ, the starting halfback for the team, says Rider fans are always great whether it's after a win or a loss, "With the smiling faces and the die hard fans, you couldn't tell if we won or we lost, that's what's so good about the Riders.  Definitely wanted to win, but either way, love seeing the fans because they're going to smile and love us either way."

Sheets, who's become a fan favourite since joining the team in offseason and becoming one of the league's top running backs, says Rider Nation has been really welcoming, "It's been great.  Walking around town or going places, people says hi to you and everybody has been really friendly."

Russ adds that doing these kind of events are one of his favourite parts about being a football player, "You go into a Wal-Mart or a local Co-op, where we are now, you sign autographs and we love it.  It's giving back to the community for what they give us, so I definitely love it."

While there weren't any weird autograph requests on Tuesday, Russ says he's had some strange ones during his time as a football player, "A guy asked me sign his bald spot and then I had to sign a baby's forehead, so those are the two things that I say are equally crazy."

Russ, Sheets and the rest of the Riders will be back on the field on Wednesday at Mosaic Stadium as they get set to host the Calgary Stampeders coming up on Sunday.
