The Saskatchewan Roughriders are handing the team over to rookie quarterback Brett Smith for the rest of the regular season.

With the CFL's trade deadline approaching later in the day on Wednesday, the Green and White have decided to deal veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn to the Montreal Alouettes in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2016 CFL Draft.

The 36-year-old quarterback made eight starts this season for the Riders, completing 171-of-257 passes for 2,174 yards, nine touchdowns and ten interceptions.

Glenn signed with the Riders in February to serve as Darian Durant's back-up, but he was thrust into the starting role after Durant's injury in Week 1.

This will be sixth different CFL team that Glenn has played for in his CFL career.
