For the second week in a row, the Saskatchewan Roughriders defence collected six sacks and held the line, allowing the Green & White to pick up a 23-10 win over the Ottawa Redblacks. The win is the third in a row to start the 2021 campaign for the Riders.

Cody Fajardo led the offence with 321 yards passing and going 30-for-35 from the backfield. His favourite receiver of the day would be Kyran Moore, who was targeted 11 times and made nine receptions for 48 yards. While Fajardo didn’t throw for any touchdowns, he did run in from two yards out for a major.

Special teams would prove to be a key part of the game, as it usually is. Brett Lauther would go 5-for-5 on field goals, his longest 44 yards.

In addition to sacking Matt Nichols six times, the Riders' defence limited the Ottawa pivot to just 176 yards through the air and no touchdowns. Ed Gainey would also pick off a Nichols pass.

The Riders are now entering a bye week, before the team gets ready for the Labour Day Classic against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on September 5th.
