The Saskatchewan Roughriders handed out a pair of extensions on Thursday as they continue to lock up key pieces of last year’s team.

After signing quarterback Brandon Bridge to a contract extension on Wednesday, the Riders announced on Thursday that they signed defensive back Jovon Johnson and offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman to new contracts.

Coleman — who signed a two-year extension — has been a rock since joining the Riders in a trade before the 2016 season. The 32-year-old has played in all 36 games over the past two seasons, including starting all 18 regular season games, the Eastern Semifinal and Eastern Final at right tackle in 2017.

He was named the Riders’ Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2016.

Johnson inked a one-year extension to stay in Saskatchewan after a successful 2017 season. Johnson started all 18 regular season games and both playoff games for the Riders, picking up 39 tackles and two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown during the regular season.

He added seven tackles and one interception in the two playoff games.
