The Saskatchewan Roughriders came out flat and were smoked by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a 31-0 drubbing on Saturday afternoon at Investors Group Field.

Saskatchewan entered the game with a chance to lock up a home playoff date, but now they just lead the Bombers by two points with two games to play.

To add insult to injury, the Calgary Stampeders lost 26-21 to the BC Lions, meaning the Riders missed an opportunity to gain ground on Calgary for first place. Saskatchewan trails by four points going into next week’s meeting in Calgary.

The Riders' offence continued its scoring drought with four quarters of ineptitude, finishing with 195 total yards.

Zach Collaros went 8-of-19 for 69 yards with two interceptions in just over two quarters of action.

Brandon Bridge replaced Collars after the offence went two-and-out on the opening drive of the second half. Bridge didn’t have much more success, finishing 7-of-12 for 59 yards.

Running back Tre Mason had eight carries for 50 yards.

Winnipeg did all of its scoring in the first half, starting with a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown by defensive back Anthony Gaitor after a fumble by Kyran Moore on the Riders’ second drive.

Bombers quarterback Matt Nichols found Darvin Adams for a 72-yard touchdown late in the first quarter.

Justin Medlock made it 17-0 for the Bombers with a 29-yard field goal early in the second quarter and then backup QB Chris Streveler hooked up with Weston Dressler for a 31-yard touchdown.

Streveler finished off the scoring when he snuck in a one-yard touchdown with 37 seconds left in the first half.

This was the first time that the Riders were shutout since 2014.

Saskatchewan will look to bounce back now before facing the Stampeders in Calgary next Saturday.
