The Saskatchewan Roughriders inked four national players to contracts on Tuesday, including former Regina Rams standout receiver Mitchell Picton.

Picton was joined by linebackers Alexandre Chevrier and Alexandre Gagne, as well as offensive lineman Danny Sprukulis in signing with the Green and White.

In 38 career games with the Rams, Picton posted 170 catches for 2,447 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was named a U Sports First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star in 2016.

Picton was drafted by the Riders in the fifth round, 37th overall, in the 2017 CFL Draft. He attended training camp with Saskatchewan before returning to school for his final collegiate season.

Chevrier was selected by the Riders in the seventh round, 55th overall, in the 2017 CFL Draft. In 35 career games with the University of Sherbrooke, he college 152 defensive tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and one interception.

Gagne spent most of the 2017 season on the Riders’ practice roster, but he suited up for one regular season game, registering one tackle. He was originally signed by the Riders this past May.

Sprukulis played his fifth and final season with the University of Toronto after being taken in the sixth round, 46th overall, by the Riders in this year’s CFL Draft.

The Riders head into the offseason with 22 free agents.

In other CFL news, former Riders slotback Weston Dressler signed a one-year contract extension with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Tuesday. Dressler was set to become a free agent in February.

He posted 51 receptions for 651 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games during the 2017 season with the Bombers.  Dressler has 1,694 yards and five touchdowns over two seasons in Winnipeg.
