The Saskatchewan Roughriders have made an interesting addition to their practice roster as the team signed veteran defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell on Wednesday.

Mitchell had 14 sacks over five CFL seasons with the BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts, but was released last June by Montreal following a social media controversy. He had just signed a three-deal with the Alouettes before his release.

The Riders released national wide receiver Kristopher Bastien to make room for Mitchell.

Saskatchewan is back on the practice field Wednesday as they begin to prepare to face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday in the Labour Day Classic.
