The Saskatchewan Roughriders made a huge free agent splash on Friday with the signing of receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux to a one-year contract.

The two-time CFL all-star joins the Riders with four 1,000-yard seasons under his belt in eight seasons with the B.C. Lions.

Arceneaux has 556 receptions for 8,169 yards and 55 touchdowns in 129 career CFL games. He had a career-high 1,566 yards in 2016.

Last season, the 31-year-old finished with 32 catches for 553 yards and one touchdown in nine regular-season games.

Roosevelt Re-Signs with Riders

Naaman Roosevelt is coming back to Saskatchewan on a one-year deal, giving the Riders a strong veteran core to their receiving group.

Roosevelt is entering his fifth season with the Riders, he has 224 catches for 3,188 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Last season, Roosevelt snatched 48 catches for 570 yards and four touchdowns in 14 regular-season games. He also had seven receptions for 79 yards in the Western Semi-Final.

Lauther Extended Thru 2020

Saskatchewan also extended national kicker Brett Lauther on Friday to a one-year contract extension that will keep him in Green and White through the 2020 season.

Lauther connected on 54-of-60 field goal attempts during the 2018 season. The 28-year-old’s 90-percent success rate was the second-best total in franchise history.

Lauther was a West Division All-Star and the Riders’ Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and Canadian last season.

Riders Add Young QB

After scoring the touchdown that eliminated the Riders from the CFL Playoffs in 2017, Cody Fajardo will now be wearing Green and White next season.

The 26-year-old quarterback signed a one-year deal with Saskatchewan on Thursday.

Fajardo is entering his fourth CFL season after spending 2018 with the B.C. Lions. He completed 14-of-20 pass attempts for 153 yards and one touchdown in 17 regular-season games last season.

In short yardage situations, Fajardo had 108 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 42 carries.

The Nevada product won the Grey Cup in 2017 with the Toronto Argonauts. During four seasons with the University of Nevada, he threw for 9,659 yards and 44 touchdowns, while rushing for 3,482 yards and 44 touchdowns in 45 career games.

Leonard Returns to Riderville

After spending last season with the Ottawa Redblacks, A.C. Leonard is returning to the Roughriders on a one-year contract.

Leonard spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons in Saskatchewan before signing in Ottawa as a free agent. 

The 27-year-old started 17 games last season with the Redblacks, setting a career-high with 50 tackles and six sacks as he was named an East Division All-Star.
