The Saskatoon Blades scored four power-play goals on Wednesday night and went on to beat the Moose Jaw Warriors, 6-1, at SaskTel Centre.

"It wasn't a great effort by the guys, but we have to rebound from that, we have a big three-in-three this weekend, so we've just got to rebound and get back to our game on Friday," said Warriors forward Keenan Taphorn.

It's the Warriors' second straight loss, which drops them eight points back of the Blades for second place in the East Division. Moose Jaw continues to hold four games in hand.

The Warriors were outshot 48-20 by the Blades in the loss.

"That was one of those games where we couldn't really generate any offence or any momentum, it was a poor effort by everyone involved, so we've just got to move on and focus on this weekend," said Taphorn.

Saskatoon had the Warriors pinned inside their zone for the majority of the opening period and had a 21-5 advantage on the shot clock.

Approaching the midway point of the period, the Warriors turned the puck over along their boards which allowed Saskatoon to continue to attack. They pushed the puck to forward Kyle Crnkovic on the right side of the Moose Jaw crease where he directed in the game's first goal.

Inside the final minute of the period and with Saskatoon working on the power play, the Warriors weren't able to clear a bouncing puck away from their crease which allowed Chase Wouters to jam it over the goal line to give the Blades a 2-0 lead.

This power-play goal was the first one that the Warriors had given up in nine games -- the last power play goal they gave up was on Jan. 12 against Brandon.

Saskatoon extended their lead just 54 seconds into the second period when Ryan Hughes scored on a backhand along the Warriors' left goal line.

Moose Jaw found some life at 12:53 while working on the power play, forward Justin Almeida moved the puck cross-ice to Captain Josh Brook inside the right circle and then Brook returned to puck back to Almeida at the bottom of the left circle where he lifted in his 21st of the year.

Saskatoon silenced the Warriors momentum with a late power-play goal from Dawson Davidson to make it 4-1 after two.

In the third period, the Blades outshot the Warriors 14-9 and added power-play goals from Max Gerlach and Brandon Schuldhaus.

Moose Jaw was 1-for-5 on the power-play and 2-for-6 on the penalty kill.

A quick turnaround will be key for the Warriors with three games in three nights in Alberta this weekend.

"After an effort like that, it's going to be crucial to respond in a good way and try to come out with some wins this weekend," said Taphorn.

The Warriors will jump back on the bus on Thursday to head to Alberta. On Friday, they stop in Lethbridge; Saturday, they're in Red Deer; then the finish off the road trip on Sunday afternoon in Calgary.
