The Royals won the U14 Moose Jaw and District Minor Girls Fastball league Crown with some solid play throughout the season and sharp play in the league final.

Losing only twice on the year, the Royals won the final 7-6 Sunday over the Twisters.

Royals coach Marie Wright talked about what pushed her team over the edge:

“I think the pitching, we had three really strong pitchers,” said Wright. “Our bats came alive, and we needed them to come alive. Some girls (were) hitting the ball that hadn’t hit the ball all year. It was nice to see everybody batting well.”

The team had several Ice members as well, adding their experience into the mix. The Royals finished in first place in the league with a 10-2 record in the regular season.

“I’m just proud of all the girls,” Wright said. “Our pitchers had good pitching all year and we had a really good team. They jelled well together with it being such a short season.”
