The Saskatchewan Rush returned to the win column on Saturday night in rival territory.

Saskatchewan secured a 13-12 overtime win over the Calgary Roughnecks at the Scotiabank Saddledome, improving their record to a league-best 5-1 on the year.

“We were fortunate to come out with the win,” said Rush transition player Adrian Sorichetti, who scored twice on fast-break opportunities.

“It’s always a battle every time we play Calgary and give them credit as they pushed the ball all game and capitalized on their chances.”

Ben McIntosh scored his second of the night and 18th of the season only 1:46 into the extra period to lift the Rush to the win, which allowed them to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week at home to Buffalo.

McIntosh, Curtis Knight and Mark Matthews all had two goals and four points in the win for the Rush, who led 5-1 after the first and 10-4 at halftime.

The Roughnecks shutout the Rush in the third quarter to get back into the game and they tied things up with three more goals in a back-and-forth fourth.

Jeff Shattler had two goals and three points in his return to Calgary, he spent 11 seasons with the Roughnecks before signing in Saskatchewan this offseason. Adrian Sorichetti also had two goals and three points, while Robert Church finished with four assists in the win.

Rush goalie Evan Kirk was busy in the win, stopping 49-of-61 shots, while Saskatchewan managed 51 shots on the Roughnecks net.

The Rush have a busy weekend ahead as they will travel to Denver on Friday for a first place showdown with the Colorado Mammoth and then they return home to host the Vancouver Stealth on Saturday at SaskTel Centre.
