The Saskatchewan hockey community is mourning the loss of Graham Tuer, who died peacefully at the age of 87 on Tuesday morning.

The long-time scout was an integral member of the hockey community in Saskatchewan over the past five decades, spending time as a general manager, scout and administrator at multiple levels from minor to junior hockey.

“Graham Tuer was one of the most respected and admired hockey volunteers in the Saskatchewan hockey system,” stated WHL Commissioner Ron Robinson on WHL.ca. “Graham was a driving force behind the creation of the highly successful Saskatchewan Development Model and his enormous contributions to the game at all levels will be sorely missed.”

Tuer spent two seasons with the Moose Jaw Warriors serving as a special assistant to the general manager, his son Al.

He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame earlier this month as a builder and is also an inductee into the Regina Sports Hall of Fame. He was named a Regina Pats key builder in 2010 and received the WHL Distinguished Service Award in 2010.
