Moose Jaw's Marie Wright, Moose Gibson and Saskatchewan 1 rolled, while Donna Ackerman and Saskatchewan 2 lost late on the opening day of action at the 2019 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship.

Saskatchewan hit the ice for the opening draw on Friday morning and secured an easy 10-2 win over Newfoundland and Labrador.

Wright skipped the team to a steal of three in the second and third ends and then another three in the sixth to seal the win.

In Draw 2 on Friday afternoon, Ackerman and Saskatchewan 2 played a tight game against Manitoba 1.

Saskatchewan opened the scoring with one in the second end, Manitoba responded by scoring one in the third and one in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Saskatchewan tied the game with one in the sixth.

After a blank in the seventh, the difference ended up being the final end as Manitoba scored three in the eighth to pull off a 5-2 win.

Both teams are back on the ice on Saturday. Saskatchewan 1 will face Quebec 2 in the morning draw at 8 a.m. and then return to the ice against Ontario 1 in the afternoon at 1 p.m.

Saskatchewan 2 faces Nova Scotia in the morning draw on Saturday.
