The Cornerstone Falcons, boys and girls, and Avonlea Eagles advanced into the semifinals of the Moose Jaw High School Senior Volleyball League's playoffs on Tuesday night.

At Cornerstone, the Falcons' girls team, which finished fourth, pulled off a four-set win over the fifth place Central Cyclones.

Cornerstone took the first two sets, winning 25-17 and 25-19 before Central struck back with a 25-19 win in the third set. The Falcons finished off the win with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.

In the boys game, the fourth place Falcons had a back-and-forth game against the fifth place Peacock Toilers, securing the win in four sets.

Cornerstone struck first with a 25-17 win in the first set, but Peacock battled back into the game with a 26-24 win in the second set. 

The Falcons went back in front with a 25-17 win in the third set and again Peacock pushed Cornerstone to the limit in the fourth set, but the Falcons secured the 26-24 win to take the match.

Out in Avonlea, the third-place Eagles advanced into the semifinals with a four-set win over the sixth place B.C.A. Cougars.

Avonlea came out with back-to-back 25-22 wins in the first two sets, but the Cougars fought back with 26-24 win in the third set. The Eagles finished off the win with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.

The semifinals will hit the court on Thursday.

In the girls' league, the first place Peacock Toilers host the Falcons, while the second place Vanier Spirits take on the third place B.C.A. Cougars. Both games go at 6:20 p.m.

The boys' league will see the first place Vanier Vikings host the Falcons and the second place Central Cyclones welcome in the Eagles at 8 p.m.
