With the WHL bantam draft coming up April 22, we’re looking at the best bantam drafts in Moose Jaw Warriors history from between 1994-2015.

In seventh place is the 2001 draft. The Warriors selected 10th overall and were able to get Winnipeg-born forward Dustin Boyd. Boyd might  have led the WHL in goals in 2005-06 if he hadn’t been winning a gold medal with Canada’s World Junior team, missing eight games. He had 48 goals that year, while teammate Troy Brouwer had 49 and Kelowna’s Justin Keller had 51.

They were also able to get Burnaby’s Michael Busto in that draft as well, and while he was traded at age 17 to Swift Current, he ended his final WHL season with Kootenay where he scored 63 points.

Another big part of the Warriors in his time was Milo, Alberta defenceman Jordan Henry, who was taken with the ninth round pick, 162nd overall. Henry was traded that season to Red Deer Rebels and is still playing in the ECHL with the Brampton Beast.

Another future Warrior that ended up being selected in that draft was seventh round pick Devin Welsh, who also played with Everett, Kootenay and Lethbridge, as well as a five year career with Lakehead University, and has carved out a unique path in hockey playing with Hong Kong's Kowloon Warriors for eight seasons.

The Warriors will select third overall in this year's draft.
