Teams in the SJHL knew the addition of WHL talent to their roster was only temporary, and the day has come (albeit earlier than expected) to say farewell to the players who added some skill to their lineup. For the Estevan Bruins, this will mean a few players leaving the team.

With the SJHL shut down until the New Year and the league having agreed that WHL players on loan could play here until December 20, four WHLers have played their last games with the Bruins for now as forwards Cole Fonstad, formerly of the U18 Moose Jaw Generals, and Eric Pearce, as well as defenseman Nolan Jones and goaltender Boston Bilous of the Moose Jaw Warriors, will go back to their respective clubs.

"We planned to lose those guys all along but it does put things in a wait-and-see situation," said Bruins head coach and GM Jason Tatarnic. "We were shut down until December 17 and we had two games after that, so it made no sense to play those two games when you're not practicing."

WHL players have certainly left their mark on the SJHL, with three of the top-five scorers and six of the top-ten having significant WHL experience. Four of those six will be headed back to the WHL for the start of their season, including Fonstad, who posted ten points in just six games for the Bruins.
