Three local teams found the win column on Thursday at the 2018 Saskatchewan Under-18 Curling Championship in Swift Current.

In the Men's Division, Moose Jaw's Brett Behm opened with a 9-3 win over Prince Albert's Bryden Tessier in the afternoon draw.

Behm scored two in the seventh and stole two in the eighth to pull away for the win.

The Behm rink is back on the ice on Friday morning against Wadena's Jayden Bindig in the 'A' event semifinal at 9 a.m.

In the Women's Division, Moose Jaw's Skylar Ackerman picked up a big 6-4 win over Prince Albert's Brooklyn Fahl in the night draw.

Ackerman started strong with three in third end and pulled in front 4-2 with a steal of one in the fourth. After Fahl battled back to tie the game after six, Ackerman scored one in the seventh and stole one in the eighth for the win.

The local team returns to action on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Regina’s Tegan Zankl in the 'A' event semifinal.

In the Open Division, Moose Jaw's Niki Stark went 1-1 in her two games on the day.

Stark won 8-2 over Saskatoon's Matthew Drewitz, kicking off the game strong with three in the first end. She stole one in the second and third, and then stole singles again in the sixth and seventh ends.

The local team couldn't follow up that win however as they would lose 11-1 to Wadena's Amy Fedak in the night draw.

That loss drops Stark down in the 'B' event where the team will return to the ice at 2 p.m.
