The ice heated up at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre on Wednesday night as the Original 16 Cash League hit the ice for the first time this season.

A full slate of eight games hit the ice to open the season.

Joel Jordison and the two-time defending champion Seaborn Insurance rink kicked off the season with a 7-5 win over the Moose Jaw Funeral Home rink, skipped by Brett Behm.

Bob Desjarlais's Kal Tire rink came away with a 6-3 win over the Patrick Ackerman rink.

Boston Pizza's Ben Gamble scored three in the seventh to cruise to a 9-3 win over Easy Care Living's Lorraine Arguin and company, while Matt Froehlich knocked off Chillers' Jerry Cherneski 11-3 thanks to five in the second and four in the sixth.

The Misfitz foursome, skipped by Donna Ackerman, lost 10-4 Ralph Courtnage and the Terra Grain Fuels rink.

BTN Chartered Accountants' Derek Owens cruised to an 8-1 win over Warren Marcotte's Keons rink. Owens scored one in the first and then stole one in the second and third and added another two in the fourth in the easy win.

Protec Video's Wade Gray came away with a 7-6 win over EMJ Marketing's Joe Gunnis, scoring two in the eighth end for the win.

While, BNC Truck and Trailer's Murray Stroeder picked up a 7-4 win over Johns Music's Ryan Wenarchuk.
