The first portion of the Original 16 Super League season is in the books after Wednesday night’s busy seven-game slate at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.

The first round robin wrapped up with Wednesday’s games and now the teams will be split up into an A and B pool based on their records from the first 13 games.

Matt Froehlich and Joel Jordison finished with only two losses each through the first half.  Froehlich takes top spot with a 10-2 record, while Jordison is right behind with an 11-2 record.

Froehlich didn’t end on a strong not however, losing 7-6 to Travis Gansauge (10-3) on Wednesday.

Jordison will be going into the next round robin on a high note after knocking off Lorraine Arguin (8-5) in a big 8-2 win.

The A pool will include Froehlich, Jordison, Gansauge, Derek Owens (8-4), Arguin and Ralph Courtnage (8-5).

Owens dropped his final game of the first half to Courtnage in a tight 7-6 match.

The B pool will feature eight teams, headlined by Al Lindquist (7-6), who picked up an 8-6 win over the struggling Carson Ackerman rink (2-11).

Ryan Wenarchuk knocked off Murray Stroeder (6-7), 6-1, to improve to 7-6 heading into the second half.

Joe Gunnis (5-8) closed out the first half by cruising to a 10-3 win over Jerry Cherneski, who sits tied in the basement with Ackerman at 2-11.

Roberta Fonger is also sitting at 2-11 after her rink lost 8-1 to Warren Marcotte (4-9) to finish up their first half games.

The two pools will start play next week.
