Team Robson, curling out of the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre, was crowned the women’s provincial curling club champions over the weekend in North Battleford. 

Skip Elaine Robson, third Candace Newkirk, second Malysha Johnstone and lead Sheri Logan only lost one game all tournament. 

Robson’s rink opened with a 7-2 win over Rebecca Ryde and a 7-2 win over Samantha Yachiw before dropping the A-side final to Robyn Despins 8-5. 

The Moose Jaw foursome was dropped down to the B-side semifinal, where they picked up 9-4 win over Kristi Frolek’s rink. They would blank Ryde 9-0 to win the B-final. 

In the playoffs, Robson would defeat Despins 9-1 for a berth in the championship game. 

Despins and Robson would meet again for the title. With Robson trailing 7-6 after seven ends, Robson would score one with the hammer in the eighth and steal one more in the ninth end to give the Moose Jaw rink an 8-7 victory. 

Robson, Newkirk, Johnstone and Logan will now compete at the Everest Curling Club National Championship from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4 in Ottawa.
