About 60 competitors took part in a senior provincial tournament hosted by the Moose Jaw Tennis Club this past weekend at the Crescent Park tennis courts.

While many of the players came from within Saskatchewan, there were competitors from as far away as Cranbrook, B.C.

The players were divided into age categories and they competed in both singles and doubles competitions. The competitors' ages ranged from 35 to 70.

Gerry Gieni, draw master for the tournament, said they got a lot of positive feedback about the tournament.

"Many, many of the players from out-of-town comment on such a nice setting in Crescent Park," Gieni said.

It was a good weekend for local tennis players on their home court.

In the women's doubles 55 age category, Carolee Beaulieu and Joan Boyle came away with the win, taking two straight sets in the final.

Meanwhile, Neil Wasylyshyn was the winner of the men's singles 35 age category.
